Whoever would like to die knowing beforehand that a destructive phenomena will hit us. Well, it seems like people are so scared to die yet brave enough to face the death angels if it’s their time to be fetched for the afterlife -talisaynon especially. Last week, rumors about an impending landslides, tidal wave and flashflood set for March 13, 2006 scampered all-over Talisay City, Cebu that which brought panic to the residents of the city.
The rumor, according to the sunstar daily newspaper, purpotedly was prophecied by an old woman. The monstrous landslide which happened to St.Bernard, Southern Leyte last Feb.17, 2006 was also prophecied by an old woman who went to their parochial church Feb.14, 2006 and told the priest to tell the rural dwellers to leave the place because in three days a catastrophe will hit the area. And, true enough, it happened.
Yet, despite of the rumor, the talisaynon worried about it only for the first day they have heard about it. I didn’t hear any of the city folks talking about it profusely and attempting to pack up their things trying to look for some place to hide the day after the rumor shattered.
Fortunately and conspicuously, nothing ever happened, I can still see the whole city of Talisay standing and my house as well. Kind of funny when I was thinking about it happening. What’s gonna happen to our house and all our things inside? How may people will die? How much of talisay will be left unscarred? But I just prayed it all to God and let His will be done. I guess that’s what all talisaynon did. One fine characteristics I’ve observed from Cebuanos is the prayerfulness, could be the reason why we rarely experience enormous destructions and chaos here in cebu.
Well, it’s definitely God alone who knows what’s gonna happen and when. So, we just have to prepare our body and soul in case the worst will came in. Never cease praying and doing good.
